The farm
sorry
Just a couple of weeks ago we managed to finish lining the reservoir. We chose not to line it with plastic sheeting as finances did not permit. Instead we lined it with termite soil mixed with bentonite (which expands when put in water) and Mike has done a very good job with a large labour force - up to 35 people at times. We are grateful for the help we have had, with the purchase of the bentonite as well as help with the labour. We have had setbacks like the rear diff on the pickup went and had to be replaced. The reservoir is now full of water and the lining is holding up well. We will need to set up an irrigation system to use the water efficiently from the dam. The rains so far this year have been good. They started in mid January (very unusual) and have continued with a 10 day gap in early April. Some of the rain has been heavy and prolonged. We hope that thay continue as most people's crops are only 2-3 feet high. The plans are to start growing vegetables at the right time so the farm can become self sufficient and we can use the 4800 cubic metres of water for this. Mike has done well as the job is not without its difficulties and his health and especially his back where he is in constant pain. He also looks to the Lord for his living. Abraham has been an enormous help on the farm, helping with the workforce and supervising security; all of which he does without remuneration. We set up a farm committee 8 weeks ago comprising Abraham, Mike, Peter and Steve, which has been very helpful sorting out problems, streamlining objectives and prioritising the work, This has been very helpful.
Please pray about the needs as we look to Him to be our supplier of our every need.

Church
sorry
Steve was out of it for 6+ weeks or so, but there is still hunger for the things of God. Many need to keep their eyes on Jesus especially in connection with the work on the farm, and learn to take the rough with the smooth when they do not get work due to lack of finances or lose their job due to poor performance or lateness. Some carry their bitterness into the church to complain. Please pray for Abraham and Mike who bear the brunt of the criticisms (like Moses and Aaron!)Simendo. The group continues to meet for Bible study on Tuesdays with Anne. She now uses a Proclaimer to help them understand. This is an mp3 player with the New Testament in the Maasai language. It is used before using Swahili which is a big help. Bryn and Sue Vaughan came to help us for a few weeks and Bryn enjoyed taking the Bible study during that time. There are about 13 in the group who are regular and the Lord has been working and knitting their hearts together. We have seen many answers to prayer.

Sponsored students
sorry
The Lord has been very faithful in supplying for the needs of quite a number of students this year. The 4 at Pasua secondary, now in form 3. One at university in Dodoma (the capital), Several in form 1 and help for some primary parents. Puly's dispensary Puly is going to receive help from Cynthia next month; she is a 70+ year old Australian volunteer coming to work for 2 - 4 years. She will help especially with the palliative care unit. She is a Christian and this is a real answer to prayer. Thank you for all the support we have been given; for the reservoir, the farm; the help for school fees; Forget Me Not; the medical help etc. Above all we thank you for your prayers without which we would be floundering. Please continue to pray. Do write to us, we like to hear from you and to remember you in our prayers too.

sorry
