The farm

The rains were 3 weeks late and in that time we had the hottest temperatures we have had here in 32 years; day after day of 390C with 86% humidity. When the rain came we got 28 inches in just over 3 weeks, the heaviest for us was 6.3 inches in 24 hours. In other places there has been serious flooding (they say it is still the effects of El Ninyo). Rain is better than drought! The dam on the farm is full and the Sanya river has been very full, and earlier washed away some people's crops. The farm struggled for a while in the very hot weather, and we lost crops. However we have had some help from an organisation set up to teach farmers how to improve their crops and we will pass on this knowledge to others in the future. We are very grateful to our friends from Germany, from the Next Step Massai group, who have provided a lot of funding for the ongoing of the farm. Abraham has the main oversight, and we are pleased with what he is doing, and his enthusiasm.

The schools feeding program continues in the 3 schools and we and the parents, teachers, students and government officials are grateful for the help received. The maize stores are busy with the maize we were given for the poor and needy. Some in the church think it is their right to have it, but it is intended for those who have real needs.

We continue to support Dr Puly at her dispensary and palliative care unit. She has a big heart and she helps by treating many from Kimashuku.

The bridge we built is having serious problems with some of the main poles rotting and falling down. It needs major input and financing to repair. Please pray for the how and when.

sorry
