Newsletter January 2020

Many of those who help on the farm are Maasai, as is Abraham, who runs it.

This has been a difficult year on the farm as we have had so much rain,

causing plants to rot, an increase in insects and supporting poles falling over,

meaning that we have not been able to make the increase in profits we were expecting.

We aim to provide maize for the needy in the community.

We help with fees for school/college students, when funds are available.

We help with medical needs, supporting many over a wide area.

We have a child/family support program FMN (forget me not) supporting very poor families. The majority of the support we receive from Next Step Massai has been used for supporting the farm and maize purchase as we believe that when the farm moves into profit, it will be able to support many of the needs. The following photos were taken by Abraham this week. The first one shows passion fruit growing well on the farm.

The second shows passion fruit with problems of too much rain the colour should be purple but it is green with brown, however they are still very sweet. The third shows passion fruit growing supported by wires, and the drip irrigation. The fourth shows the dam which we use for irrigation as well as the borehole. The fifth shows Maasai ladies working among the tomato crop. The sixth shows similar to the fifth one but with others working as well.

With many thanks from

The work of the mission IMP and the church MCF is basically the same. The promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping those in need. The farm, Ol Joro (meaning the watering hole in Maasai) was started by IMP and handed over to the church. Its purpose is to help people out of their poverty by providing a place where they can be shown how to grow crops in difficult circumstances, providing a place where produce can be grown with a minimum of pesticides
(as organically as possible) that will bless the local community and the wider community.
Many Maasai ladies regularly buy vegetables from the farm in order to sell them at markets and stalls in order to make a profit.
