Newsletter August 2021

I trust that this belated letter finds you in good health, trusting the Lord, free from worry and fear. We have been busy, especially Anne who has an increasing load as my mobility has decreased. Thank you for your earnest prayers concern and support. The Lord is continuing to work in the many situations we are involved in.

The farm. Groups of 10-12 are trained in better farming ways. Many come from very poor backgrounds and have no other means of providing for their families. Crops grown are: tomatoes, green peppers, aubergines, various dark green vegetable crops and they need to replant the passion fruit. They use as little as possible insecticides, but at times this is almost impossible due to the high temperatures and the location of the farm. A proper greenhouse would help. Abraham continues to supervise. Prayer is needed for the farm to be able to come to a place of breaking even financially. Expert opinions or visitors would be gratefully received.

The maize stores. Currently these have run out of maize and are needing to be refilled as we have quite a number of very poor and old people who are unable to provide for themselves and it looks like there will be a very poor maize harvest.

The Kikuletwa church. There has been some exciting news especially relating to the young people where there has been an increased hunger to study the word of God together, to pray and worship the Lord and start to be involved in evangelism and helping local people as part of this.

Visitors from abroad. Elsabe Nel (Mama Twiga) comes and goes from South Africa as do Lewis and Melody Taylor from the US. In April Chris French and Dave Medlock came from UK, in June Dan Larkin and his nephew Sam came from the US and they are still around. Philip, Joy, Natania and Daniel came in time for Anne's birthday for the first time for 2 years and were here for a month. What a joy to have them.

Local visitors. There have been quite a number. If people don't come from abroad, God brings them to us.

Bible study. We meet regularly every Wednesday and new people are coming. A Tanzanian man Chuwa and His English wife Prudence (a retired Lutheran pastor) as well as Grace and Justin Oforo (a retired Lutheran pastor who used to head up Scripture Union in Tanzania) have been attending regularly and are a blessing to the group. They have been encouraging times.

Our young people here. Melubo stays with us and is thriving on learning how to sew, ultimately to become a tailor. Zubeda is going on well with the Lord and has a good job and is a great help to us and she is becoming quite an evangelist, helping to teach the young people in church. Jovinas, has passed his nursing exams and licence exams, just waiting for employment. Bakari is struggling spiritually and physically. We saw Abbas recently. He is going on well with the Lord, witnessing to his relatives, several of whom have become a Christians. We are still trusting the Lord for healing from his paralysis. He is substantially improved until he now can feel when he needs the toilet. Eliya continues with his studies at university and is doing well as does Shadrak.

Lots of love from Steve and Anne.
